joy in the mundane

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and learn from me, because I am lowly and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 CSB

When was the last time you felt like a child? When your sense of wonder was high and your laughter rang with hope? Jesus offers you an invitation to come to him and find rest for your souls. To lay down your burdens and instead find them replaced with rest, ease and lightness. Do you want to feel more of the ease, rest, and lightness? I think part of the solution is how we perceive our lives and our circumstances. You see, Jesus also told us that unless we turn and become like children we will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

This is an invitation to slow down. To ask Holy Spirit to open the eyes of your heart to see the gifts of joy in this season. To seek out joy in the middle of the mundane, it might just be the key to becoming more childlike and experiencing more of the promise of Jesus in Matthew 11.
