new name

“Let anyone who has ears to hear listen to what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name is inscribed that no one knows except the one who receives it.” Rev 2:17 CSB

This is the first talk in a brand new series for Haven Church, “New Name”. Names it seems are kind of a big deal to God. Jacob is given a new name. Israel, Zachariah and Elizabeth are told what to name their son and just like them, Mary is told her unborn child’s name. Jesus renames three of his 12 disciples; Simon becomes Peter, James and John are renamed Sons of Thunder or Boanerges and there are untold stories across the bible with name changes, nicknames given and children named as a result of prayers answered.

So click the audio and grab a pen and a piece of paper as we are going to do some creative journaling together or Holy imagining. The Spotify playlist accompanies the audio and below is a transcript of the poem that you’ll be listening to. Get comfortable and invite Holy Spirit to come and sit with you, to open the ears of your heart and shine revelation light for you.

New Name

New name.

He calls me Beloved Shining One.

I call me unworthy, the world calls me not good enough, He calls me Beloved Shining One.

I call me a failure, the world calls me unemployed benefit scrounger, He calls me Redeemed Precious Child of God.

I call me unwanted, the world calls me divorced single Mom, He calls me Chosen, Righteous, Made New.

I call me it’s your fault, the world calls me difficult, He calls me Overcomer.

I call me alone, the world calls me rejected, He calls me never left or forsaken.

I call me lost, the world calls me an embarrassment, He calls me Home.

Home, a place of welcome and refuge. A seat at the table with my name on it. A warm embrace and a wide lap to climb onto. A place to relinquish all my other names that have gone before and receive a new name.

Home where the worlds noise is silenced by Love and He calls me by my name.

Beloved Shining One

Redeemed Precious Child

Chosen, Righteous, Made New

Overcomer

Always with me

Home

Loved
