As we enter into this 40 day Lent period and begin to walk the paths of sorrow with Jesus, are we able to say: search me, know me and then “lead me in the everlasting way…” (Psalm 139:24 CSB)
For the 6 Sundays that proceed us in this season, let us enter into them with a posture of surrender to the Lord’s ways. Can we embrace the path of sorrows? Believing that within them lay opportunities for us to ‘know’ more of the nature of God. Emmanuel, God with us, is offering us an invitation to enter into a ‘holy huddle’ with him. Will you trust him enough to abide with him even unto the cross, even unto your prayer going unanswered, even unto war, death, loss, grief, disappointment, hurt, pain, fear? Will you choose the narrow and often painful way that Jesus took and beckons you to follow?
It won’t be easy, but it will transform you.
