family traits
This month we start a fresh series of talks looking at family. As followers of Jesus, family members, we share the same DNA as Jesus so it’s fair to say there should be some family resemblances too. We may all want our lives to resemble Jesus, His joy, his ability to be fully present in every moment, his resolute peace in uncertainty, but for many of us we look more like the harried, exhausted, bone weary people he came to save, than the man himself.
Jesus offered an invitation to all who labour and are weary, that he would give them rest. I believe that invitation included all of us. Rest, the one thing this weary, rushed, not enough time for our to dos to get done world needs. Our souls crave rest and not all the glasses of wine, Netflix or cruises will give us stainable rest on an ongoing daily basis. Only Jesus. So that’s where we’re going to start, in resting with Jesus.
